Dinah’s Approach

Dinah is passionate about practicing from an intersectional-feminist, queer-inclusive, anti-oppressive lens. Her work is grounded in Relational Therapy, wherein the relationship between counsellor and client itself is of utmost importance in the healing experience. Their approach encompasses aspects of Narrative Therapy, Existential Humanistic Therapy, and DBT.

  • Dinah Rose Steele, MC, RCC

Dinah is a white, genderfluid (she/they) queer femme born and raised in the Commercial Drive area of so-called Vancouver, on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Watuth, and Musqueum peoples.

Dinah’s passion for counselling began during her own healing journey in 2015. It was their own experience of learning to embrace themselves through therapy that led Dinah to believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship. This experience inspired her to want to extend an invitation to others in the community to explore both themselves and the world around them.

Dinah strives to offer connection, validation, and exploration to all their clients. Particular areas of interest in her practice include: issues pertaining to identity, sexuality, meaning-making, individuation, and the impacts of societal constructs.

“Fostering belonging is at the heart of our efforts to become amazingly alive in our work, and to promote the possibilities of being amazingly alive in others.”

— Vikki Reynolds & Cathy Richardson, 2012

Fees

Inspired by the belief that counselling should be accessible to all members of the community who are interested, Dinah provides her services on a sliding scale. If finances are a barrier to you receiving counselling, please consider where within the range of $95 - $150 / session fits best for your current situation.

Folks who have a steady living-wage or extended health care coverage, and can afford sessions at the higher end of the scale, help to supplement the costs for lower-income community members, and support their access to counselling. This is one of the ways that we can engage in supportive community care with one another.

Selecting your fee is something that Dinah invites you to discuss with them during your initial correspondance, and invites any questions you may have.
